Tanya Class for Women 

Rebbetzin Basie leads a 30-minute in-depth class on Tanya, the classic Chassidic work that teaches the inner workings of our mind, heart, and soul. The class will be text-based as we slowly work through this incredible study.  

To be held via Zoom each Tuesday at 7:30 pm. To register, please provide Basie bgurkow@gmail.com with your phone number so she can provide updates about the class.

Pirkei Avos Class for Women

Rebbetzin Basie teaches a class for women on the Ethics of our Fathers, Pirkei Avos, on Shabbat at 5:30 pm. The class is held at the Gurkow family home.

 

 High Holidays Auction

This year we will have a hybrid High Holiday auction. You will be able to post a bid

online, and a live auction will also be held at Shull. Minimum bids for the live auction

will begin at the highest bid received online. In addition, the Aliyah, Hagbah and

Gelilah honors for the first day of Rosh Hashanah will only be available for bidding

online as the live auction takes place after Torah reading on Rosh Hashanah day one.

High Holiday Seats

Beth Tefilah does not distribute tickets for High Holiday seats. Members are entitled

to seats, but friends and relatives who are not members are asked to pay a fee of $150.

As we run on an honour system, we ask that you make arrangements for your

relatives and friends who will join you for Yom Tov in advance.

 

  Order your Lulav and Etrog
As he does each year, Rabbi Gurkow will travel to Toronto to purchase a Lulav and Etrog set on your behalf. If you would like the Rabbi to purchase a set for you, please contact him (egurkow@gmail.com (519) 694-7708) by Thursday, September 17.

A Night of Gratitude and Celebration - Special Anniversary Dinner

 

Sunday, October 25, 2026  6:00 pm   Jewish Community Centre

We invite our members and friends to an anniversary dinner dedicated to expressing our deep appreciation to Rabbi Lazer and Rebbetizin Basie for their valued leadership over the past 25+ years.  Invitations have been emailed, with RSVP for the dinner preferred as soon as possible.  

 

Rosh Chodesh Society for Women

 

The monthly Rosh Chodesh class will resume G- d willing, during the Niagara Shabbaton Nov 13- 15. The cost per person is $450 (two per room). This includes Friday and Saturday night accommodations and all kosher meals/snacks from Friday evening to Sunday breakfast).   Student discount is available.

Chumash with Rashi Class for Men and Women

A class led by Julie Rubenstein. Explore Judaism’s most fundamental text with the vital commentary of Rabbi Shlomo Yitzchaki (Rashi) in the original Hebrew. Classes are currently on hiatus.

 

Sukkot Carnival, Wednesday, September 29, 4:00 PM

 

A Sukkot Party for Families and Children will be held at Beth Tefilah.

Bouncing Castle, Crafts, Games, Mitzvah booths, music, Lulav Shaking, camaraderie, and dinner in the Sukkah.  Seating in the Sukkah is limited, so lunch in the Sukkah will be served to

children only. Reservations for this event are encouraged but not required. Please email and e-transfer your reservation to office@bethtefilah.ca by Friday, September 25. Fee per child, ages 2-12: $10.

 Simchat Torah Celebration, Dance With The Torah Under the Stars October 3

 

Join us on Saturday evening, October 3, at 7:10 pm for a joyful Simchat Torah celebration. It is the Yahrtzeit of 1200+ martyrs whose lives were cut short on Simchat Torah / October 7th. Let us respond to horror with joy as we dance for those who cannot dance anymore. Delicious dinner buffet; special challenges for children.

 

Dance with joy to the tune of Israeli songs. Dance under the stars with the Torah, followed by a delicious deli buffet. Simchat Torah at Beth Tefilah is a night to remember. Put it in your calendar so you can celebrate with us.

E Your Donation

Beth Tefilah is set up to receive email money transfers to our email address, office@bethtefilah.ca. This method can be used to pay for dues, donations, and programs.
